Full-Time, ExemptPosition SummaryThe President/CEO serves as the
executive leader of the Santee Chamber of Commerce, responsible for
the overall strategic, operational, and financial health of the
organization. The President/CEO works in partnership with the Board
of Directors to implement the Chamber's mission of promoting
business growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing the
economic vitality of the Santee community. This role requires a
dynamic leader who can effectively balance advocacy, membership
engagement, community partnerships, and organizational
leadership.Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Chamber's strategic plan in
collaboration with the Board of Directors.
- Lead the organization in setting and achieving key goals
related to membership growth, financial sustainability, and
community impact.
- Identify and implement innovative programs and services to meet
the needs of the business community.
- Develop and manage the Chamber's annual operating budget,
ensuring financial stability and transparency.
- Pursue revenue-generating opportunities through memberships,
sponsorships, events, and grants.
- Provide regular financial reports to the Board of Directors
with recommendations for growth and cost management.
- Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks or other
similar accounting software, ensuring timely reconciliation of
accounts.
- Work closely with the Chamber's bookkeeper and Treasurer to
ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board of
Directors.
- Community and Member Engagement
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the Chamber
and its members.
- Develop programs and partnerships that support member
businesses and foster community engagement.
- Cultivate relationships with local businesses, community
leaders, and government representatives to strengthen the Chamber's
influence.
- Organizational Development
- Oversee the hiring, training, and performance management of
Chamber staff.
- Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture that promotes
teamwork and professional growth.
- Ensure staff alignment with the Chamber's mission, vision, and
strategic goals.
- Advocacy and Public Policy
- Represent the Chamber in legislative and regulatory matters
that impact the local business community.
- Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal
elected officials.
- Collaborate with partner organizations on public policy
initiatives that support business growth and economic
development.
- Membership Growth and Retention
- Develop and implement membership recruitment and retention
strategies.
- Engage with members to understand their needs and deliver
value-added services.
- Maintain a high level of member satisfaction through consistent
communication and support.
- Event Management and Programming
- Oversee the planning, promotion, and execution of Chamber
events, including networking mixers, educational workshops, and
signature community events.
- Secure sponsorships and partnerships to enhance event success
and financial outcomes.
- Evaluate event performance and member satisfaction to improve
future programming.
- Brand and Marketing
- Develop and implement marketing strategies that promote the
Chamber's brand and services.
- Oversee digital communications, including the website, social
media, and newsletters.
- Serve as the Chamber's public face, representing the
organization at community events and through media
opportunities.Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit,
business, or chamber of commerce setting preferred.
- Proven track record of strategic planning, financial
management, and organizational leadership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic accounting skills, including experience with QuickBooks
or similar accounting software, budgeting, and financial
reporting.
- Strong relationship-building and public speaking
abilities.
- Experience in event planning, fundraising, and membership
development.
- Knowledge of public policy and business advocacy
preferred.
- Familiarity with the local business community and regional
economic landscape is a plus.Compensation and Benefits
